Homeopathy Homeopathy literally means "like cures like". The best way to explain this is to give an example: If you had poison ivy, you could take a piece of poison ivy plant and soak it in some alcohol to extract the plant oils. Then you would take one part of that liquid and mix with 99 parts of water to create a 1 to 100 dilution, or a "1X" dilution. (This is not diluted enough to be considered homeopathic.) You would then take 1 part of that 1X dilution and mix it with 99 more parts of water and create a 2X dilution. (Still not homeopathic!) You have to continue this process of dilution until you reach a 6X dilution, and then you have a homeopathic remedy. If you took this remedy, it would heal your poison ivy. Interestingly, the more you dilute a plant, the more powerful it's healing ability. Homeopathy should be the first choice of therapy because it acts quickly without causing any side effects.
