Acupuncture In every human being there is a system of energetic pathways. They are called many things including meridians, collaterals, or channels. By using extremely fine gage stainless steel needles to access these energy meridians of a human being, the body can be balanced, restoring the body, mind, and spirit to a more natural state of wellness. Acupuncture is widely accepted by mainstream medicine for use in pain relief of all types, to include headache, joint pain, fibromyalgia, and pain due to trauma. Acupuncture is also widely noted in the treatment of digestive disorders, fertility issues, and restoring movement in stroke victims. As part of a system that is 5000 years old, acupuncture and herbal medicine actually treat the entire human body, and most all of the diseases that we see in our culture today. Sessions typically last between one and two hours, and generally do not cause disruption to a person's activities. There are no known ill side effects to acupuncture aside from occasional bruising - it is safe and effective! Traditional Chinese Medicine The foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine is rooted in the idea that we really "are what we eat", however, the Chinese have taken it a couple of steps further in noting that medically, disease also arises out of who we are, what we think, and how we manage our feelings and stress. The herbal medicine part of Traditional Chinese Medicine uses herbs in foods, and of course, the use of herbs to treat illness and disease. It only makes sense that ALL medicines come from plants, minerals, and animals. Chinese medicine uses plants, minerals, and animals according to a "natural law". The basis of Chinese medicine also acknowledges that we are not separate from our environment, but an integral part of it, therefore, to be restored to a more balanced natural state, it makes sense to use natural means to regain perfect health. Again, herbal medicine is a time tested method with little to no harmful side effects, and extremely effective when prescribed by a trained herbalist.
