No Flu Outbreaks in this Classroom! Here's Why...

This success story (and helpful tip!) was relayed to me by Shannon, who works at Natural Health Solutions on Saturdays. Shannon is a preschool teacher during the week, and we all know what germ factories preschools are!

When she was hired, she let the administration know that she would be using natural products rather than harsh chemicals, hand sanitizers, etc, in her classroom. (It's funny how people will have the attitude that you're a "health nut" when you make statements like that!) But they overlooked her "nuttiness" and hired her anyway.

Shannon uses a simple solution of 20 drops of lavender oil in a 3oz spray bottle for sanitizing. She can spray this on toys and uses it on little hands instead of hand sanitizers. In recent weeks, her school has been hit with the typical colds & flus that occur this time of year. As you know, this year folks have been worried about the swine flu, too, and cases have been reported in the schools.

Well, last week an administration representative came to Shannon and said, "What are you doing to prevent the spread of germs? Yours is the only class in the school that hasn't experienced absences from the flu!"

Shannon told them about the simple lavender recipe. Not only does it prevent the spread of germs, but it is not toxic to her student's little bodies the way the chemical products are. This is a testament to the effectiveness of simple, natural remedies!

As an additional note, some of Shannon's students have siblings in other classes who have gotten sick and even with that exposure at home, her little students have stayed well. Lavender not only kills germs in the environment, but it is a natural immune enhancer. So, head to the drugstore and buy a 3oz spray bottle. (You can find them with other travel products.) Lavender oil can be purchased at any health food store. Use 20 drops and fill the rest of the container with water. Shake well before each use, as the oil will settle on the top.
