The Heat is ON! What you need to know to stay healthy...
Temperatures are rising, and it is easy to get depleted of vital nutrients through sweat loss. Here are some tips to keep your energy high in the heat of summer:

Use a good quality salt at each meal if you're spending time in the sun. (If you have high blood pressure, check with your personal practitioner to see if this recommendation is appropriate for you.) Himalayan pink salt is the highest quality and available at Natural Foods Warehouse locations around the city. Next best is Celtic salt.

Be sure to eat plenty of potassium rich foods, such as bananas, oranges, papaya, tomatoes and cantaloupe. If you are exercising and sweating profusely, a potassium supplement is helpful. We carry a good quality product at a very low price.

Instead of the usual sports drinks, which include high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors, use Emergen-C, which comes in many flavors and is available at health food stores and major retailers, like Wal-Mart.

Be sure to drink plenty of pure water and give yourself time in the shade.
